Executive, Team & Board Coaching

Transforming the thinking and action of an individual, a team or an entire organization takes commitment. It also takes some very well-honed tools and skillful leadership.

World class athletes wouldn’t dream of competing without a world class coach.  Neither do great performance artists. Increasingly, business executives are also realizing that expanding leadership isn’t just a matter of innate talent—it takes focus, new learning and usually the support of a mentor or coach who embodies potent leadership and knows how to help others do the same.  Coaching is now widely recognized as an essential tool for leadership and effective performance in today’s competitive environment.

Our executive coaching often begins with a fixed period of engagement (often four to six months to start), involving regular coaching sessions and personal practices, both in-person and over the phone.  Schedules, areas of focus and specific practices are different for everyone, and are tailored to address the executive’s particular concerns, interests and circumstances.

Collaborative Action Labs

In addition to one-on-one executive coaching, we also facilitate critical team meetings and provide team coaching, which we call Collaborative Action Labs (think of it as executive coaching for teams).  Collaborative Action Labs are where executives, managers or line staff within a department or across multiple departments work through actual business issues, opportunities and challenges while gaining new understanding, collaboration skills and personal ownership of the larger organizational context.

Collaboration Action Labs are extraordinarily effective at building trust, commitment and real-time alignment within management and cross-functional teams.  These labs are also exceptionally popular and engaging.

Collaborative Leadership & Performance Improvement Courses

We offer a range of educational programs, from short introductory workshops to six-month+ leadership courses, designed for individual performers, team or department members, or members of cross-functional teams (as well as Boards).

Introductory workshops are ideal for whetting the appetite–introducing folks to new understandings and possibilities, and inspiring them to learn more.

Our extended educational courses are where true transformation takes place, providing participants with the four elements needed to truly transform themselves and the way they produce results: 1) the conceptual framework for a new understanding of leadership, collaboration and performance improvement; 2) a recurring schedule within which to learn and practice new actions; 3) consistent, built-in feedback opportunities to support their new daily leadership practices; and, 4) coaching and facilitated conversations with their colleagues (and frequently bosses and reports) about real high-leverage work issues.

TALKING TRUST [IN BUSINESS]™ (2 hours to 2 days)
This in-house workshop shows participants just how critical trust is to achieving real performance improvement in any organizational setting.  This program can be delivered as a short introductory workshop or a longer 2-day program that will leave participants with an entirely new understanding, and invaluable tools for repairing and building trust, as well as the ability to identify where in their organization the absence of trust may be limiting performance.

LEADING AT THE CENTER OF CHANGE™
This workshop can be tailored to specific organizational opportunities,  is built around principles and practices of martial arts and self-awareness disciplines that enable us to remain centered, present and potent leaders, even amidst the most tumultuous, uncertain and fast-changing environments that many individuals and organizations face these days.

COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP™ – Basic Course
This 4 to 6 month course provides executives and mid managers with a powerful new understanding of how to harness the complex, interdependent network of business conversations and relationships in their organizations to produce aligned, collaborative leadership and performance.  This course is highly interactive, leveraging conceptual learning, action labs (focused real-world organizational issues and challenges), and practices from martial arts and personal awareness disciplines.  We get consistently exceptional feedback about this program and its impacts on course participants and their organizations


Executive Leadership Roundtables

Executive Leadership Roundtables are guided, interactive learning conversations that take place within a respectful, focused (and also frequently playful) setting in which participants gain new perspectives and embody new skills. This is where newer executives cultivate new leadership and collaboration capacity and seasoned leaders hone their abilities.  Using their own real-life challenges, executives draw upon profound practices from martial arts, self-awareness disciplines, linguistics, organizational psychology and other fields to see what they hadn’t previously seen, and take new actions that weren’t previously available to them.
